C. Edward Sauer, Jr.
Dr. Eddy Sauer is a local product of
the Amarillo area. He graduated from Canyon High School in
1980 and then went on to receive a B.S. in chemistry from West
Texas State University in 1983. He entered Baylor College of
Dentistry and obtained his dental degree in 1987. He then
returned home to Amarillo to practice Dentistry.
Dr. Eddy purchased the practice of
Dr. Larry Schulz in 1987 and then also acquired the practice of
Dr. Jim Rogers in 1992. In 2003, Dr. Eddy and Dr. Scott
merged their practices to form Shemen Dental Group, LLP.
Dr. Eddy has been active in the
community as well as the dental profession. He is a member
of the American Dental Association, the
Texas Dental Association,
and the Panhandle District Dental Society where he has held
various positions including President in 2001. He is also a
member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the
Texas Academy of
General Dentistry, and the Panhandle Academy of General Dentistry.
He is also a member of the Academy of Computerized Dentistry, The
Baylor College of Dentistry Alumni Association, and the
LD Pankey
Alumni Association. His community involvement includes
the WTAMU
Alumni Association board for several years as well as a member of
the High Plains Kiwanis Club for several years. His family
was the ambassador family for March of Dimes in 1999. He has
also served in a Task Force for the Canyon Independent School
District.
Dr. Eddy has continued to pursue
excellence in dentistry, keeping current through continuing
education. he has received his Fellowship Award from the
Academy of General Dentistry in 1995 whose requirements include
600 hours of continuing education. He has also completed
five continuums and several other courses from the Pankey
Institute for Advanced Dental Education which is considered one of
the leaders in excellence for continuing education.
In 2001, Dr. Eddy added computerized
CAD/CAM dentistry to his practice. The
CEREC system
by
Sirona allows for highly aesthetic porcelain restorations to be
created in the office on one appointment as opposed to the
outdated two appointment traditional crown procedure. He
currently contracts with Patterson Dental to provide dentists and
assistants training in CAD/CAM dentistry.
Dr. Eddy and his wife Tina have four
beautiful daughters. Danelle (20), a junior at Baylor
University, Angela (11), Valerie (11), and Michelle (11).
That's right, triplets! As Dr. Eddy says, "I am the King!".
The family worships at Trinity Fellowship Church, where they are
involved in several ministries. They also enjoy snow skiing,
fishing, running, and just hanging out together.
